Hoarding Solutions for Long Term Construction Sites

By Suttie Site Services

For any construction site, security, privacy and safety are key considerations – construction site hoarding provides a solution for all three. Regardless of the size of the construction site or the length of the project, temporary hoarding can be installed to:

  • Secure the construction site, including the tools and plant equipment left on site.
  • Protect the construction project to keep prying eyes away from a construction project that needs to be kept under wraps.
  • Protects construction workers from passing traffic, including any debris that may fly off the road.
  • Protects the public from hazards such as on-site vehicles, falling objects, excessive noise, dust and vibration, along with general slip and trip risks, all of which are commonplace on a building site.
  • Advertise the project, along with providing a platform for other advertising campaigns.
  • Provide a cost effective barrier solution to the construction site.

Depending on the construction project, there are different types of site hoarding available. For long term construction projects that will require an effective security and safety barrier for a long period of time, timber hoarding provides an ideal solution.

Why Timber Hoarding?

Post in ground timber hoarding is the most common, most cost effective choice for long term construction projects, helping ensure security and privacy, as well as ensuring health and safety regulations are complied with. Made up of reinforced wooden boards that are set into concrete, wooden hoarding is designed for durability. As well as keeping the public out of the site, timber hoarding boards are designed to withstand the effects of the elements.

In some cases, post in ground hoarding isn’t suitable. For example, planning permission may not allow for posts to be set into the ground, or there may be utilities underground that prevent post installation. For long term construction projects where post in ground hoarding cannot be installed, a free standing hoarding solution can be supplied.

hoarding 2 - Suttie Site Services

As specialists in a wide range of site security and utility services for the construction industry, we understand the challenges faced in different projects. For a recent project in the centre of London, we supplied security solutions including free standing timber hoarding, scaffold alarms and security lights.

Whilst scaffolding is essential for completing building and exterior renovation work, it does provide a platform for intruders to attempt to climb and access the construction site, along with any expensive tooling or machinery that is left there overnight.

In addition to installing reinforced timber hoarding around the perimeter of the scaffolding, we also installed weather and pest-proof scaffolding alarms to provide peace of mind for our client. Our scaffold alarms are designed to raise the alarm should any intruder attempt to access the scaffolding, and visible signage warning of the alarm systems acts as a further deterrent for any would be intruders.
